I guess it is hard to stop doing the things you like to do. Once you start something, it's difficult to get out of the flow. Even though injuries other negative consequences take place.

But as the saying goes, do everything in moderation. Like it or not, I've reached the limit of my badminton addiction, as well as my craving for newer and better badminton equipment.

Not only did it strained my wrist, hurt my arm and damage some muscles on the shoulder/back area, the game contribute to most of my cost in my weekly allowances.

I really have to take it easy and play in moderation before it permanently destroy my chances of playing badminton.

I also need to stop drooling at Yonex Nanospeed 9900 racket because deep down I know the cost is mostly paid towards their promotional and advertisement initiatives.

Hopefully I'll able to manage my badminton game and not play every single day.

Life is nothing but changes. Some would be good and some would be bad. Without facing them head on, we'll never know what we get.

I've been living in my comfort zone all this while with my comfort food, comfort companionship, and endless support by people around me. But now, all of this privilege is starting to fade. What seem like a carefree lifestyle is ending.

Career demands, new time management, new perspectives in life, looking at positive side, working with limited supervision, growing older, loosing friends, loosing girlfriends, are some of the changes and challenges I face in this transitional period. It's difficult to adapt , yes! but certainly not impossible. It's just that I crave for instant result. A bad habit that I've yet to overcome.

I hope the new "life" that I'm stepping in fulfills my needs as how it was back in the good old days and not bring out the worst in me.

As for progress, I would personally like thank "J" (you know who you are) for giving me a head start in this whole mumbo-jumbo safe-transition plan. And I certainly hope we'll get to know each other better in the coming weeks.

Recently I've been crazy over badminton game. I started playing more session in a week, follow up by a badminton training every Sunday, 6-8pm.

To secure my game further, I even purchased a second racket as a spare, just in case I snap my default racket.

I've also participate in weekly games via www.badmintoncentral.com to further fuel my craving over badminton.

In the whole experience, I found out what I truly want in life and what I view as important in an individual

Participating in sports event can enable you find out more about yourself.

If you enjoy soft movies with a bit of humor and romance, this is one movie not to be missed!

Pros
An easy to digest storyline with cute 3D animated cartoon characters.

Cons

It doesn't go well without 3D glasses and it can seriously bore to hell if you're the type that prefers drama and action pack movies.

An interesting story that relates to the history of China during the female emperor era.

The movie is predominantly filmed on blue screen, so yeah, "awesome" graphic but not as realistic as Inception (2010).

He no longer teaches Kung Fu, he's now a crazy, blood thirsty anti-Japanese Chinese who looks forward in killing the next Japanese Army officer.

Cons

Well, the movie revolves around in mind games, politics and a lot of dialogue. If you're the type who hates story-line's this one movie you would dislike.

Call him daddy or father in law, in life, nothing is free. From the day you are born to day your parents bought you that brand new sport car, nothing is actually free. Parents are just investing on you, in exchange to look after them when they are old.

Wall Street looks precisely into the root of this problem, money.

Pros

If you are a business student, a person who reads business article, hell yeah! This is one good movie.

Cons

If you rather watch dramas, go shopping and gossip about your friends ex than you better prepare a pillowcase before you enter the cinema. Wall Street could bore you to death.

Who would have thought that owl's can get that complicated? And I thought they only travel at night (nocturnal). The moon thinggy on their eyes, urgg.. I'm confused.

This is what I can say about the movie.

Pros:
Lovely storyline, very fluffy and cute looking owls, and of course, amazing 3D image rendering.

Cons:

Sad to say, it is only appealing with 3D glasses. There are quite a few unnecessary slow motion scene that is irrelevant to non-3D.

The third day after I finished my degree

I just accepted the fact that life from now on will be very different. I saw an interesting advertisement on New Straits Times today. Apparently, CIMB is looking for social media experts cum administrators for Facebook.

It look tempting at first but I'm still a tad too skeptical venturing into the unknown. I had several bad experiences maintaining and positioning brands on Fan Pages but I knew very well, deep down, that I love marketing on social media website.

The big question is - What am I waiting for? and am I missing out on a good opportunity? I can't help but to remind myself these few questions everyday because I set myself goal by age 30 to own a house and to have enough money to start a family.

Gosh.. I'm only 22, somebody, anyone, please remind me that I'm still young and subjected to learning and making mistake.

Gee.. hehe.

A little view on risk taking - money and investment in general

Today, I'll like to touch a thing or two about the subject "risk". I'm sure there are times where you answered life-changing questions. But before going into what risk is really about, let's look at Monopoly and how we evolved playing that game.

Monopoly Board Game

I'm sure you have at least played the game once in your life or rather heard about that game. It is basically a game design for children age 7 and above. And it enforces the learning curve on money management, risk management, real estate sales and a little bit of banking (mortgages and loans).

People who are good in games like that are usually experts in this few areas and not merely luck by the rolled dice.

I mean, if you look at it critically, do you risk gambling your remaining money on an expensive, you-think-is-an-opportunity property hoping that maybe, your friends might fall into it later on? Or do you save keep your remaining cash for bad times or bad luck? All this decision making process come into play and it reflects your judgment with money and risk taking.

Maybe you might question the credibility of the board game having govern by a fix set of rules but really, look at what other people are saying about property - "property is a good investment", "values goes up later" and etc. There isn't the slightest hint or consideration that people might not arrive or purchase your property, despite the quality of the land and the location. Frankly, business in real estate is extremely similar to the rolled dice effect of Monopoly.

Rather than to just consider the product quality, consider the contact point, conveniences and chances of a consumers arrival at the location itself. Now a days, knowing it's not enough. Monopoly instills that mindset to you indirectly. The chances of the rolled dice.

Apart from that, it also enforces money management. It teaches you to evaluate your buying power and not just the opportunity. There are people in life that are so blinded by the opportunity, they literally forgotten that they lack the money and the soft skills needed to maintain their property/product, hence the sales and marketing involving in pushing the property.

Really, what I'm trying to say is, Monopoly, can potentially change your perception towards life and business. It teaches you to look at things openly and teaches you to create opportunity for others rather than yourself per se.

Risk

Now that you have a clear picture of what I'm thinking, Monopoly, we can talk about risk.

Really, there are several ways of looking at risk. Some of you might consider it stupid, an opportunity or rather a mindset in you.

To me, risk is all about chances and it's all about going against the norm. Ultimately, risk is something ridiculous that someone propose to you or something that everyone disagrees with you and you do it anyway. Don't say no one tell you or at least influence you, I'm sure you talk about your risk before taking them.

But the real question is, how do we manage risk and make the good decisions? That my friend, is learned through experience. And one of them is Monopoly. I'm also suggesting that you spend more time learning rather than to jump into an ocean that you "think" you a lot about before making drastic changes in your life. You must look at situations beyond your common sensory, especially the eyes and the ears.

Seriously, I don't mean to brag or anything but I'm quite good at Monopoly. To a point my cousins says "I'm worried about him loosing cause he seldom or never lost before this, he might not understanding the emotion of loosing".

So my final message for you, think before you do anything, think. The opportunity is there but don't get blinded by the upfront success you see on others.

What is your ideal way of dying?

It's really sad and frightening to know that one day all of us will have to die. Not that I'm actually afraid of dying, I'm just concern that I would not have the chance to choose the way I depart. If it's possible, I would like to die on the shoulders of the person I held dearly.

Today is the first day of my grandmother's funeral ceremony and I hope she finds peace and serenity on the other side. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for looking after me and my family all this years. It is a pleasure having her around.

I would also like "her" to know that I will always carry her words forward in life. Like her advise in life, wisdom and so forth.

Having grandmother like her, makes me reflect on myself as well as my parents, cause one day we'll all grow old and depend on the people around us.

53 years of Independence

I had a blast last night with some of the folks from "One Community". It was a little insane at first but in the end, they were a bunch of really friendly and fun individuals.

I felt a little lost at first due to language barriers but after talking to a few people and playing several games, everything made sense. We're not that different after all. Not that I completely abandon Mandarin. I can still speak and write a couple of words.

What I learn from that experience is that everyone plays a role. Everyone plays an important part in contributing, like ideas, games, participation and etc. It is the like mindedness of everyone that made that event a success.

However, the overall event wasn't quite as what I expected, perhaps I'm little bit too demanding but I still had fun. Thus, I'm grateful.

One thing I must comment though. The fireworks displayed on Ampang Look Out Point was as small as a size of a 50 cent coin. It's really disappointing and it really kill the romantic atmosphere. So guys, you'll know where to get next time.

Again I apologize for not jotting down the exact location but this pork experience is somewhere remote in the housing area of Mount Kiara. It's argubly one of the best places for pork and the best place to clot your arteries! So go easy on the meat!

The past few weeks was at Starbucks. But due to the malnutrition-typed cup noodles I had for lunch, I chose Old Town WhiteCoffee instead. I needed a dose of protein, high anti-oxidant WhiteCoffee and a little fat from the specialty toast.

I can't pass the guilt eating rubbish at home.

Something better than Cup Noodles.

Badminton Frenzy

I've recently been craving for badminton and took the initiative to create a Facebook group to attract similarly minded people.

My first initial intention was to find a replacement for the Sunday game but it seem that our friend, yong siang, has recovered from his leg injury.

What I get instead, was a Saturday game with two determine and pretty female players. It was really nice to have to mix doubles instead of your regular men's double.

Hopefully the Saturday game will continue to stay and not stray away from relationships or non-commitment reasons.

I don't know what happened to me recently, I just love playing badminton and I have a strong urge to win every game with the best of my ability.

It has been five weeks since I left college and work as an intern. I can't help but to feel that life in college/university was much better.

Back then, we can skip classes, wear shorts and slippers to school, delay due dates, do silly things and get away with it.

Not to mention the social life we had back then.

We were practically allowed to waste money, make mistakes and fool around with all the pretty girls at school without a slightest worry of the future.

It was one honeymoon period for all of us.

But I guess, all good must come to an end. Now that we became full fledged adult, we have responsibility, job and a future to think of.

No one is going help us now.

I just watched Despicable Me (2010) and I think is by far one of the best animated 3D movie, better than Dragons. And I think, it's much better than Shrek.

In short, the movie all about a person trying to be the baddest and meanest thieve on earth while manifesting the characteristic of the most caring father.

It's quite emotion inclined towards the end, so girls, I suggest you prepare an extra packet of tissue. Not that I actually cried. I don't.

Sickening Mondays

Like last week, I spent my entire evening at 1u, shopping and doing my internship assessment. Now that I forgot to bring my notes, hence unable to do my daily log, I thought, maybe I should start doing the main component of the assessment in the internship report, like company background and etc.

As much as I want to start doing the assessment, I can't. I can't because I can barely breath. This flu has definitely brought the worst in me. I tried exercising, drinking lots of water, pumping 1000mg of vitamin C, still, the flu, sore-throat and drowsiness remains.

damn it, really.

Well, at the very least, I can still enjoy good coffee and blog in places like Starbucks.

It feels good surrounded by books and magazine + coffee.

Asam Laksa at Old Town WhiteCoffee

I had Asam Laksa in Old Town yesterday and surprisingly, it tasted quite good. It is very similar to the famous Penang Asam Laksa as it uses the same concept of blending fish meat into the broth.

It looks slightly different from your usual Asam Laksa. There's no pineapple too!

Update: Internship

I've just started internship on the 29th of June and this is my first weekend. I've not able to take any good pictures lately but I'm not quitting just yet. Give me a little more time and I'll post some mouthwatering food photos by tomorrow.

But what I really wanna say on this post is, "good luck with your internship". I wanna remind all the friends and students from my batch that working is not as easy as how it looks on television.

We learn, we write, we speak at college, apparently it's not enough to perform what other experienced people are achieving. There is still a lot of learn about a company and their products and services that is not covered in our course. Even certain values, like perseverance, is merely explained and practiced in school. Meaning to say, we were babysit-ed by our lecturers. Life was too easy back then.

But what we can do now, is to put in more hard work and try our best to learn as fast as we can. After all, we are degree students and there are some level of excellence in order to pass the degree. We should be able to make a good impression through the hardship we went through studying and doing assignments without proper sleep.

I really hope that we can meet up again one day and reminiscent about old times and talk business like old-uncle in the coffee-shops.

Firstly, I wanna congratulate my girlfriend for finding a better place to stay. It took eons to find a good and cheap place to rent. We literally survey every corner of each housing area in Taman Mayang area to ss2, until we decided to choose the one in Ara Damansara. Aside from the quietness the area provides, it is also near to her working place in near One Utama.

Hopefully she's bless with good housemate, so far, aside from the cleanliness issue, her housemate seems pretty welcoming thus far.

As for food, I'll like to tribute the old and surviving kopitiam, Old Time White Coffee.

I know many of you have been to this place and probably sicken by the idea of coffee and egg's but let's face it, this place was once our hangout place, group discussion, assignment doing, dating, dinner and probably lunch. It is only fair to feature this iconic place once in a while (I'm sure you have your own selection of memorable location!).

Below are some of the old time favorite and also my personal favourite in this coffee shop cum cafe restaurant.

Omega 3 soft boil egg.

Ham and Cheese Polo Bun.

And the not so good but healthy ice drink water.

This are arguably one of the few pioneer snacks of Old Time White Coffee, except for the plain water. I am after all, watching my weight and muscle growth, so forgive me for not including the usual hazelnut white coffee.

Illegal downloads and latest anime/movies and etc

I didn't really have much to eat now a days and with my girlfriend sifting houses, I don't really have the energy to blog. What I can do is, maybe, I can update you with some of the leading torrent animes, such the latest release of bleach and naturo, and where to get them.

Fret not, I'll even teach you how the software and downloading works.

Finally the race to deadline has ended. All the sleepless night and constant worry is gone for good, at least for education.

But in the utmost importance, I would like to dedicate this food post to Joash Wee, of Taylor's College. He met an accident and died peacefully on Thursday, along with some of his treasured family members. I hope everything will work out for his family.

Still, for what is worth, Joash, I hope you have wifi in heaven. I not might be able to give you anything but the very least you still see with your eyes. I hope the following post get to put a smile on your face. Good luck on your journey!

Arguably the finest papaya milkshake you can get in Petaling Jaya area and a wholesome Viking Salmon sandwich at Taylor's Norwegian Sandwich. But not so much for the sandwich though. It could have been better if more lettuce and asparagus was used instead of raw and spicy onions.

It's really been a while seen I last blog. I had so much work and consideration to do that I literally had to shut off my daily habit of reading the newspaper. It's that bad.

Now that I retain some of my composure, I thought, maybe, it's time to put up a blog post... And here it is! My two cents worth, in the heart of the stressors I face at school (blogging from the library).

But most importantly, it is my girlfriend's, Patty's, birthday, June 2, this post is dedicated to her. Have a sneak peek on birthday cake.

There you go, a birthday well done!

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Patty on her recent winnings on Mint magazine. It makes watching movie fun again. But like always, she doesn't just walk away with a pair of tickets but a list of other attractive items.

Thanks you so much for making my movie day a reality. Even though we can buy it in the counter but winning it makes the whole event more meaningful.

As for today, we both shared a "meal of the day" at Dessert Bar. Super filling. We also had another birthday, thanks to our lovely classmates.

It's one hell of a meal for someone who already ate his lunch.

Most importantly, I hope she had a good time on her birthday. We prepared lunch, watch a movie, ate something at Senju Sushi and had a drink at Laundry Bar. Nothing too fanciful but surely something to remember for 2+3 birthday = 5. Hahaha!

Last time, we tired sandwiches and fish and chips from Norwegian Sandwich but today we are going for something cheaper. Something that allow s you to save athebuck without compromising your distinctive taste bud. And that lead us to the Taylor's group floor food court.

There is more than just hawker food in the food court. If you must, go for the culinary food, it's cheap and good, prepared by the industrial learners in Taylor's School of Hospitality and Tourism.

Morning nightmare and wooes

Today, I woke up at 7.30am, I express my utmost regret in not tuning my alarm clock properly but normally, I would have made because it doesn't take long to drive to college. Today however, was slightly out of the usual norm, it was my debut morning to the first 8am class at lakeside campus. And things couldn't worse...

It may seem cool cutting several cars ahead and jumping queue to get to the main road (1km away from college) to Taylor's but never did I expect the traffic to stall at that point. I thought I made it to class on time really. I was these close to Taylor's until it stall for almost half an hour around the entrance. And since I wasn't guaranteed a car park inside, it decided to call it a day, and move on to my favourite breakfast, starbucks. After all, my next class is at 12. So what's the hurry I thought.

So I speed off to ss15, asia cafe, to get a parking spot and it turns out to be fully occupied. Sadden again, I made a huge turn around and gracefully made it to Subang Parade only to realize that starbucks open at 9, so I thought maybe it's the low level glucose in my head playing tricks with me. I don't know, it's just too much to deal with in the morning, having to cope with all this nonsense. All I wanted to do is to attend class or have breakfast and it seem to be the hardest thing to do.

Amidst everything, I sometimes thank god for everything since I did get my breakfast at Starbucks though I wasted a lot of petrol and time in the process, as well as my patients hehehe.

And as a token of my appreciation, please let me take you on a tour to one of the staple sandwich in Norwegian Cafe Taylor's College.

Well, I used to have problems eating at the old and dirty campus but after coming here to lakeside, everything changed. And I think... I need more pocket money!

Har! Oh well... Here are some of the sample taken on my lunch break in Norwegian Sandwich cafe!

Everyday is a movie day!

At first, everything was planned and the actions was set in the motion but as soon as the plan came, something went terribly wrong. Not like the plan didn't actually work but it did in the end with some luck and here's how the story goes.

Me and my girlfriend, we both, spotted the movie voucher on MalaysianToday's April's fools issue and kept it for two weeks before the screening of the movie but little did we expect, we were supposed to cut the same advertisement on the April 14 issue as well. So blindly as it was, we just move on without checking the voucher twice.

When the day came, I rushed up like some free ice cream campaign and quickly made assumption that people around me are greedy because maybe, they wanted to claim more than what they needed. But it didn't really bother me. I was more concern on whether or not I get to watch the movie because I was one of the last few people behind, queuing up.

Fortunately, when my turn came, there were more than enough tickets for everyone but as I display my advertisement, she told me I was one advertisement short, and utter "why didn't you read!" So I begin looking around for possible adverts on the floor and it turns to be nothing but a wild goose chase.

And just before I could tell the sad story to my girlfriend, a pair of good Samaritans offered their additional advert to me and told me that they were behind me and saw my grief! ha! I thank them with a grin on my face and rushed back to collect a pair of free seating tickets.

Just then, I remembered an incident in MidValley, where we too, gave away free tickets to wandering movie goers.

So I guess that maybe, it is the good gesture that attracted others to do good and not merely happened by chance. It is one of the moment where you can jump and shout "I'm proud doing good!".

With free movies coming in all the time, everyday is a movie day!

If you crave for Teow Chew porridge but fret over the artery clogging dishes then head over to SS 14, 好满粥·饭. There, you can find healthy brown rice porridge and other exotic dishes to go with without feeling too much of a guilt.

Then again, you don't have to follow us in going meat-free, there are a lot of other dishes to choose from like salted fish and pork variation.

Tragic week

It's been another busy and problematic week for me and my girlfriend, but she suffers more.

First, I loose my house key with a RM 100 rare pen knife attached and later my girlfriend looses her cell.

At first, we thought the cleaners would return the phone like how they did the last time but for some reason, they just kept quiet and agitate as we question them.

I mean, if you're at the last session at college, let's say 5pm, and all that's left was your hand phone, cleaner, security guard (who locks the door) and a lecturer, who will you suspect first? The cleaners of course.

It's not like we wrongly accuse them or something because the cleaners were in a serious disadvantage. There wasn't anyone near the perimeter and most students were 4-5 tables away. It was either the lecturer or the cleaners.

So without wasting any time, we rushed back from Tropicana City and arrived at the classroom about 6pm. But it was too late, the doors were lock.

In the end, we consulted the security guards and they agreed to open the door to satisfy our curiosity but no phone was visible.

So we headed home and hope that the cleaners would return the phone the next day.

But that didn't came as planned. The cleaners were all in shields and armors and there's nothing we can do without prove. So offered them rm 300 upon finding and returning the phone.

And thus far, no one has called for the offer.

Perhaps this what life is all about. You get some and you loose some, period.

Our first anniversary.

It's our first anniversary. We fought, we arguing, we quarrel, but nothing could break us apart after we decided to stick together no matter what. Meaning, we never gave up.

We know that humans in general can't get along as we all have our own perspective and idea but it is the act of kindness and understanding that pull relationships together. For us, however, we believe in not giving up. Surely, we will one day quarrel again but it is our determination and commitment for each other that allows us to stick together.

And with each other, we will build bridges and take on the world one by one.

Hopefully the following year would end in the same manner.

On the good part, we decide to cook on this epic day and bought several ingredient from our friendly hypermarket Cold Storage.

With that, I prepared Basil Pasto, a vegetarian dish.

Well, there are several improvements that can be made but at the very least, I managed to cook something for my lovely girlfriend.

Hi people! Sorry for the late and inconsistent blog post. I've been really busy with routines and assignments, as well as my next act on effective communication. However, I have unfinished business on this blog and I wanna take this opportunity to show gratitude to my one and only girlfriend (and probably something more in the future).

So these are the lovely things you missed out when I stopped blogging.

My birthday! At Coffee Ritual (along digital mall).

My girlfriend, as usual, made several clicks on Google and found an amazing restaurant that serves good coffee. I was in doubt at first but after arguing a bit with her I accepted her reasoning that the coffee prepared is better than Starbucks.

Below are the food that we ordered before I test the auspicious coffee.

Lastly we have dessert.

And I must say that the food is quite good but I still feel a bit edgy about coffee made better than Starbucks. So I proceed with the final phase of my curiosity.

And quite likely I lost the best. It was the best coffee I've ever tasted.

But that's only the beginning. She surprises me further with presents she secretly hide when I was on top of her.

I was stunned a little and extremely touched in the end as I gotten a wallet without a zip to break and tee shirt I wanted so badly. Truly the best birthday one can have.

Hopefully our relationship will last as long as it can,

Simple and Cheap Indonesia food at The Curve

If you fancy Indonesian food or simply craving for something different, head over to Gerobak restaurant at Cineleisure (e@curve). They served up a range of cheap and simple Indonesia food, such as Gado-Gado and Pecel Lele. And with just a small amount of RM 10, you are able to eat almost anything from menu.

Below are some of the pictures I took:

Arguably the best dish in Gerobak, Pecel Lele. Comes with crispy cat fish, tempeh and tofu. Oh! The sambal is so good.

This milky display of Gado-Gado is not as tasty as how it should be but if you prefer something light and less spicy, go for this. It has a good amount of vegetable and egg, for what is worth.

They have are interesting dish like Java Mee as well but try not to keep your expectation too high, as you can see, not everything is mouth-watering.

How To Train Your Dragon (2010)

Its been a tough few days having to anticipate on-going presentations and internship meetings but after hearing about my girlfriend's recent luck on two "How To Train Your Dragon" tickets, every tension in my body seem to died down. And as cute as dragon might be, the show definitely earns the rights to 9 over 10 ratings for animated films.

It all revolves around a Viking village, where they struggles day and night to fend off raging dragons, refusing the urge to back down. Hiccup, the chief's only son, was the only Viking that doesn't possess the mighty strength of a warrior. He spends most of his time inventing weaponry to aid his father's army only to upset his father's expectations of him, as a Viking.

But eventually, he learns the tricks in dragon taming and showed his father, the chief, a different side of dragons.

I think the moral values are worth your time. Maybe by then, hopefully we can all live together as one.

At first, we have vampires taking over the world then romance came in where human and undead interacted, now we have vampires working as CEO and humans as farm animals. Good thing is, they eventually fed of themselves and die, which is why day breaker is a must watch, starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill.

But with only five percent of human population remain, can they recover from the outbreak? Can they emerge victory after the recent success of a blood substitute? One way or the other a fight for existence will emerge. And only one race can rule the world.

Like how I usually brag about uncertainty about working and career, now I begin to regret taking mass comm. After all, I'm not fit working in an environment where things get crazy and mistake get shouted with foul language.

But that isn't the scariest part. It is the fear that they instill in you that makes your mind play tricks with you. Just imagine coming to work feeling scared and constantly avoids responsibility in fear of getting yourself in trouble. Perhaps, that is what working life is all about. Survive or die.

A former lecturer of mine, who I met in the gym, told me to brace myself for situation like this and explained that such working environment is normal in the media.

I, like you and me, who got caught in the "sweet talk" of education counselor, now understands the true job scope in the media industry.

I can only prepare myself for the worst and build a resistance to bad criticism and try not to make the same situation happen twice.

Only then, you and me will blossom in this hectic industry and take on any challenges ahead. But just make sure the process of adapting doesn't change you an angry person or an insensitive person in life.

Like the usual, I play sports in the weekend and prepare for gym the next, other than the usual things I do in college. Therefore, I can't blog like how I used to.

It's not like there's a million and one assignments to do because personally I think I'm coping with the stress well but to some point I can't help but to imagine what will happen next as I near my internship as well as working life. And thus far, things have rather been ugly.

But not everything is that bad. At first, I thought I lost my internship opportunity but after several amendments in the last semester and some lucky improvements in grades, I assume my internship like the rest. Only this time I hope things will blossom and be another one of the false dream.

Like wise, I hope things will prosper for you as well.

Snowy Dessert House @ Sunway Pyramid

The thought of shopping at Sunway’s Pyramid Asia Avenue brought me back to the uneasy feelings in Sungai Wang Plaza. But for Pyramid’s Asia Avenue, you find a rather quiet environment that matches the excitement you get in Sungai Wang only without Ah Lian and Ah Beng touting the place. Seriously, the type of crowd isn't important. What matters is the food available in Asian inspired section s that brings out the goodness of asia culture in forms of taste and execution, which is what inspired me to try dessert specialist, Snowy.

As I study the menu, I notice a wide selection of food stuff ranging from rice, noodles and tip bits aside from its main attraction, dessert. They even Italian food for choice and juices for healthy eating. But that is not the only thing that make the place special.

The restaurant also capitalize on convenience and speed with fast moving waitress and instant set meals, which save time without having to choose each dish from the menu.

On top of that, student enjoys 10% discount.

Up In The Air a good watch

As I unravel the plot of Up In The Air, where George Clooney stars the main character, I realize the difficulties in sustaining jobs, especially when your family is depending on it. But rather than worry about it, we have greater problem. It is the people who come to you the next day and tell you that you’re not needed anymore that really turn you upside down, leaving a tad feeling of worthless and broken wallet down to your very soul.

Ryan (George Clooney), who works as a messenger to inform employees of their dismissal, eventually matures to a selfless and heartless person as he advances in his career.

But it didn’t take him long to realize the things he misses in life after listening to what his co-worker, Natalie said to him and the women he loved, Alex, who betrayed him.

I say, 7/10, a good movie with two different perspective in life but mainly because it was George Clooney who acted.

Ministry education survey for last semester degree students

Today was supposed to be an off day for college but with the ministry of education research in motion, we needed to attend and sit for one hour survey and interview.

“By the looks of it, it could be one of the little feedback examinations on how well prepared student are for the work force.

But judging by the question given, it tests only on your attitude and confidence and not our overall talent and knowledge.”

Me and my girlfriend set side by side in the multipurpose hall for an hour and completed the test with utmost honesty.

Hopefully by then, Taylor’s would gain something from it as I strongly believe that I’ve learnt something from its degree program.

Then again, it is more than meets the eye. The survey should also cover on student’s background, like whether or not they work before they study or vice versa. This way, the government will understand why certain people excel and certain don’t. And as crucial as working experience maybe, it does give you a head start in degree programs against who did nothing.

How would the public react on the ratings will nice to see and Hopefully it would not further escalate the stereotypical assumptions on where and what is good in education.

First college semester of 2010

After a month working and another month cultivating good habits, the semester finally starts. And since it is the last semester, I’ll have internship next and god knows what after that.

By right, I should be doing my internship now since I enter with a diploma but I wasn’t as fortunate as Taylor’s diploma program as they undergo a mere one and half year while I had two solid years.

Still, for what is worth, I get extra opportunity to learn and it could be a blessing in disguise, now that I realize, I have a basic performing art class, effective communication (EC), which most of my seniors didn’t go through.

Not only that, I can also take this time frame to consider what I want in life and jump into an industry half-prepared and hamper myself of coping.

But nevertheless, I hope this will be good final semester since I won't exactly be touching education anymore after this. I rather learn things the hard way and with the help of reading materials and lots of book. Yes, I love reading.

My Second Trip to Penang

Food has never been an issue in Penang; one can get good food by just following the masses. But with poor understanding of the local dialect, one could end up ordering the wrong food or worst, lost in the clutter city of Penang.

No, I wasn't serious. It's just that sometimes as Chinese, you want to blend in with the other Chinese and knowing Mandarin is simply not enough. Somethings are learned through cultural background.

Still for what is worth, enjoy the pictures below.

Another famous Loh Mee in Penang but not as good as the one I wrote on my first trip.

An all rounder Loh Bak, unless he/she can't speak Hokkien then the food is bad.

It might look like any ordinary Lok Lok but the price and variety defers greatly from what we have in PJ/KL. Take prawns for instance and you'll get lai liu har.

Black glutinous rice soup. Rare, intense and delicious. Nothing like a splash of coconut milk. It's not red bean though.

And if you something even better, try their white glutinous rice soup. It's sweeter and creamier.

Bitter-god stir fried with egg. Compliments to the famous dish below.

A clear soup that taste like Tomyam with fish meat and hor fun. Soury and flavorful despite its clear color.

ABC, one of the things I ordered while waiting for the unprecedented one hour char kuey teow.

And then it came. Large prawn, skewy "si ham" and creamy flavour. No complains.

Cheap and famous Apom. Only 30 cent per piece. Never increase in price ever since.

It might look simple but when you grab it out of the plastic bag, it releases an aromatic flavour leaving you wanting for more. Kudos to the bananas.

Penang Rojak. Not too sweet, not too sour, not too spicy. Simply irresistible and slightly on the healthy side.

Hainanese very own western cuisine, the remake of gorden blue.

Cream of mushroom. Nothing too spectacular.

Clean and refreshing taste of grilled fish. No unwanted flavouring or ajinomoto added.

Probably the most seductive Ice Kacang I've ever tasted.

Compliments to that, this is also another weird Indian Mee Goreng prepared by a Chinese Hokkien lang.

Even weirder, he excels in Mee Rebus as well. Gee...

The best cendol in Penang. Better than the one from setiawan and melacca. Sad case.

Restaurant on sandy beaches. No further information will be shared.

And after smooching and hugging, we bought this weird corn. Good marination though.

Just when I thought Wai Sek Kai's Ling Chee Kang was the best. I was wrong.

And strangely, this cocoon like dish came and now I obtain a new favorite, "Kuey Chiap". Very very skewy and yummy. Served with duck meat.

Just as the spirit of Chinese New Year diminish among adults and older generation, we, unmarried folks however still find the culture a blessing for its extra allowance given via red envelop. But seriously, is money the only thing special about ang pao's? No.

The believe derive from Chinese and East Asian societies where the color red wards of evil and attract good fortune and luck to the receiver. That is why we see red packets distributed in wedding and death ceremony. It doesn't bound you to when and where and who you should give aside from the common belief where the married gives to the unmarried.

More importantly, the amount money does not signify anything with the celebration but rather a token of appreciation. In other words, you bring home protection and luck after visiting.

On the bright side however, the culture of giving luck and protect spread across to our islamic counterparts as well, only with the change in name to duit raya and the usage of the color green that represent their religion's color.

Of course, for people like YOU, you only care about the money inside and not what the beliefs are in those red envelop since you dispose of it so quickly but what makes it sad is when you call green packet cheapskate because it's so obvious that you forgotten that we are all from the same envelope given culture. Arrogant prick!

Reflection of 2009/CNY greetings.

It's a rather quiet CNY (Chinese New Year) this year. You don't see aunties reveling in trolley charts with tons of unnecessary things anymore or an unexplainable long queue in supermarket. Needless to say, everyone is caution with their spending habits.

For me however, it's pretty much the same every year, only a little quieter this year. I used to have my friends around for CNY celebration from my college and high school counterpart but since they have all moved on with their lives to further studies or work, I have only the poor or unfortunate locally bred and studied friends in my repertoire (I'm one of them).

But don't get me wrong, I'm merely stating the facts and not discriminating the poor/average income group, just that sometimes, I, like you, misses the old days where we gamble, drink, party and collect endless amount of ang pao's from you folks (parents) out there.

As the saying goes "all good things must come to an end" and that includes your friends and family. Like my close friend, Yong Siang, he lost his father late 2009 from a tragic heart attack and I sympathize much to how reunion/family dinner will be without him around.

Sometimes, it's just hard to ignore certain situation cause just like me, my dad is only one year older than his, so to some point, it gets me worried sometimes.

Still, we must look forward and not dwell over the unchangeable past, as ugly as it may be. And like how I mentioned earlier , All Good Things Must Come To An End, mustn't be misunderstood. What I mean is, try to think pragmatically and critically in that phrase particularly on the word things because it is more than meets the eye. Meaning, it could be reverse and utter as, All Bad Things Must Come To An End, which is what Chinese New Year is all about, a new beginning.

I seriously hope that you people out there are doing great cause I know I am since I got people who love and miss me out there and please please go visit your friends.

ss2, Tian Pin Ge Ge (Dessert Brother)

I have been passing by the new dessert house in ss2 for quite some time now but never really attempted to try it. So today, I made the initiative to try the newly established dessert place with my girlfriend.

To her amusement, she found the almond soup dessert to her liking and compliments it for being healthy and soothing for the throat. I on the other hand, was simply excited to see so many desserts available in front of me.

And like always, I hesitate on the menu. I simply wanted to try every single one of them. But after several discussions with my counterpart, we decide to go for the red bean tofufa, which looks really yummy, white fungus almond for its refreshing look and the cute and skewy pumpkin pudding.

When the dessert arrived, I quickly took a hit of the almond soup and almost immediately my enthusiasm dropped from hyper to moody for its acquired taste, not to mention the taste of ginger in the soup, which I personally dislike. My girlfriend however savors the soup with nothing but a single word of awesome utter from her. I, on the other hand, prefer the red bean tofufa over the almond soup for its simplicity and creativity.

As I gulped the third spoon of red bean tofufa, the pudding came. I can almost feel my blood pumping in a fetish for cute skewy thing. And as happy as I can get, it tasted beautifully according to my expectations.

But nonetheless, it was only three different desserts. There are other decent ones that are yet to be tried, like durian pancake, yam pudding, fruity ABC and papaya milkshake to name a few.

So be it hate or love, this restaurant fetched a whooping 7/10 from the "darrenometer" scale and if that's not enough, see how much she enjoy the pudding. The dude behind as well! hehehe!

Worrisome Culture

I encounter something different today from my usual routine of gym, reading, movies and more reading. A lady, in her mid 50s approached me today with a notion of advice belief to be enlightening but sounded rather nostalgic in the end.

She expresses her grief in the country's political crisis and mishap of tax payers money to a point that she forgets about the truth behind each accusation. I mean, it's not wrong to make such remarks but since the matter is at an investigative level, why make assumptions? For example, the Jet Engines case and the death of Teoh Beng Hock. Let the authorities do their job. If they make a mistake at the accounts to please you, will be responsible for the collateral damage? Ask yourself that question.

It is really upsetting to see how matured adults absorb information sometimes because we tend to take the media too seriously and very often scrutinize the good part of every news and grin at every bad outcome, particular to the party that we dislike.

Even though situation sometimes demands the obvious, we can't deny the very aspect of protecting oneself when it comes to life, regardless of innocent or guilt, take Teoh Beng Hock case for example.

Who with the right mind will sit there and do nothing while the gallows is waiting for them? Is simple ignorance really when it comes to speculating that the whole scenario is setup, delay etc.

But that doesn't stop there, even the Prime Minister gets "eggs on the face" when something goes wrong in the defense ministry, just because he lead a group barbarians in the past. Look back on Altantuya case you'll see mix reaction from the crowd and it all boils down to one fact, the ministry of defense leader. It's sickening to see people drown themselves to the obvious.

True, big tycoons and high ranking politician get away with murder in movies but that doesn't happen very often in real life is it? How can we go on complaining about press rights while we humiliate ourselves with endless assumption upon given information? Don't you think is taking rights for granted?

I suggest that we learn from our mistakes and carry on a more critical and pragmatic way of life instead of baseless accusation and assumption. Understand comments as comments and accepts facts as facts.

By then, who knows, issues of transparency could be a thing of the past, and maybe bloggers will no longer be locked up behind bars.

Nasi Lemak on the go!

Curiosity

As we arrive, loud and enthusiastic staffers quickly usher us to their designated stall and chanting recommendation aloud to our confused mind but alas, we took two packet of nasi lemak leaving them disappointed to rejection and discretion to what life has to offer. But for the most part, the drinks seller gets the best out of us.

Not only did we order cold drinks from them, we added a set of half-boiled egg as side dish to our nasi lemak.

But later on we notice two different nasi lemak packets, one with red fonts Nuri and one with the blue fonts (sorry I forgot the name).

We debate quietly and decided to try both of them and regrettably only one passes our close examination.

And Here's The Verdict:

The pack with the red fonts, Nuri, has better sambal as it concentrates more spiciness rather than the actual sweetness of most commonly prepared sambal. And just like any standard nasi lemak, it has boiled eggs, peanuts and anchovies.

The blue pack on the other hand is somewhat similar to the ingredients but lack the whoom on the sambal as it tasted sweet and not the actual chili-based sauce that we're looking for.

So I suggest that you go according to your chili endurance but if you trust me, go for Nuri.

PS: ignore the cold ones, ask the lady to prepare a new one for you if you can't find the hot once.

Hilarious as it may look but some men considers knocking on their car a direct hit on their second wife. The boy, together with his friend, met an accident and exchange blows before they decide to report to the police.

It started during a busy and jammed rush hour along the highway and both labor cared nothing but their work after lunch.

But life is full of surprises, he and his mate never realize that accidents could bring out the worst in humans, because in front of him, is an angry Gen-2 owner.

And as a newbie in negotiation, he came out tough and provocative.

The old men, in his forties, gave him punishment for his mishap.

Grieving in pain, he hits back and a brawl started.

His companion and the angry old men's wife did little to stop the fight while on-goer vehicles slowed down to savor the dramatic scene.

The friend, a.k.a. movie director, instinctively took out his two megapixel video recording device and shot his friend in humiliation.

He chants in happiness during the fight and watch in fetish over is blood bath of both arrogant and childish men.

But soon enough the fight ended. Everything was recorded but for is worth, the old men has his daughter for comfort and the so called friend a.k.a. colleague, records the daughter like it was a sex scandal between his cousin and his neighbor.

Sad or stupid, one thing is for sure, I don't want a movie director as friend, I need a real friend.

It’s no longer a surprise to see new gadgets in the market but the problem is, Apple always take the lead. And for quite some time now, they launch a the new soon-to-be-obsession, Apple tablet.

The concept was first coined by Doctor Sam Hurst of Elo TouchSystem back in 1971, where he develop the first “touch sensor” during his lecturing days in the University of Kentucky. But sadly, no one saw the potential in creating a 100% touchscreen computer.

But Apple took the idea differently and develop a touchscreen tablet that specializes in surfing, e-reading, e-mail and instant messaging. On top of that, it comes with ready-to-download applications similar to the sister product, the iPhone.

Reasonably, it comes with Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB ram and nVidia GeForce 9400M graphic card for the price of a netbook, and as for gaming, it will beautifully support most of the mmorpg games available, only problem is, it doesn’t come with a keyboard.

Speaking of gaming, the machine compensate battery life for up 6 hours and 12 if you're easy on the gadget, which mean, rushing at 100th level would come handy.

To start it off, this special concoction comes with two unique selections of Ma Lad (Chili with Numbing effect herbs) and mix herbal chicken soup for choice. You can either choose one portion or mix both of them according to your taste.

And as soon as they served the hot plate, you can put in your toppings in without having to wait like other steamboat joint.

On top of that, the meat comes in paper-thin slices that ripens almost immediately when it touches the broth.

You can either go for the famous lamb slices or go with the all-rounder beef, chicken and pork.

The whole decoration of the restaurant derive from a simple bathroom concept from usual toilet bowl to the old fashion shower heads. And to make things more interesting, each toilet bowl seats and basin table are decorated different for various viewing pleasure.

But that doesn't stop there, the food and dessert also comes in unique miniature toilet bowl and bathtub.

Food enthusiast are also spoiled for choice in its divest variation of rice, baked rice, noodle, burgers, dessert and mocktails to suit each individual tastebuds.

If you think about it, it isn't such a bad thing having torrent available to us really. It is our way (globally) to tell the industry that they are overcharging the product. And to relate it otherwise, even tangible goods are affected the same way. Sometimes it is really about working the issue around than to stop sharing/selling all over.

And for argument sake, sharing was never illegal. It was defined and perceive otherwise but unhappy happy, still rationally, sharing is never wrong, in fact sharing is caring. From the sellers point of view, it sounded more like commercialization issues than actual sharing but the fact is, torrents are free for everyone. On most torrent website per se, they are only taking advantage of the ratings and using the crowd for advertisement revenue.

Penang's Street Food Journal

Words cannot describe how good the food is in Penang. In fact, you probably heard hundred and millions of elaboration and explanation from your family and friends already. Without further ado, let me show you some pictures that your talkative friend cannot describe accurately!

This delicious broil is mashed with a hands full of fish and is arguably the best Asam Laksa you can find in Malaysia. Most importantly, it is only RM2.80 to taste heaven.

The next dish however belongs to one of the ever popular snacks in Penang, Lo Bak, and for some reason they make the best of it, along with signature sauce that you don't exactly find in Petaling Jaya.

Even their curry is exceptional for its spices and cooking technique, not to mentioned pigs blood, but hell, it is one the boldest and bloodiest curry mee ever. Simply irresistible.

Still, it is the iconic Char Koay Teow that stands out in Penang, though it might look like any other Char Koay Teow, this one comes with pork cracker (zhi yao cha), large juicy prawn, squid and nature forbids, duck eggs. How can we even eat the other imitation outside of Penang?

In fact, even their Indian Rojak is bonafide good and to the locals (Panangite) it's known as Pasembur. Ironically, it was prepared by a Chinese and to compare it with famous Indian Rojak in PJ, this has one crazy super sauce and because I'm loyal to my location, I'll say PJ rojak is better! (my fingers cross =X).

For this beauty, I don't have a clue what is it, so for name sake, I'll call it unknown. The unknown dish has a range of fried stuff, like prawn cracker and everything nice! Call it whatever you like, just remember that there are many fried eatery out there that are not documented yet. And don't get confused, it is not Lo Bak.

On this picture lies the best fish head noodle despite the common understanding of milk and soupy fish head noodle we know. Strangely, it comes with dry bee hoon and crispy fried fish, and for some reason, it taste pretty good! Ignore the bread -_-" though.

In this dish are three kinds of sauces and for the first two, you guess it right, sweet sauce and chili sauce, never did it cross my mind that the third one would be prawn paste but damn! it is really good. who cares about Ipoh now? And btw, it's called Chee Chong Fun.

This two little fiery miniature stingray is commonly known as Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) and aside from the grilling, the sauce is one that captures the senses of a good eater. I say, 8/10.

This unusual dish sells during breakfast period but seriously since when Chinese Pancake be this good? Ohhh! the egg, butter and kaya. Truly an amazing feat.

For some thing as simple as Ho Jian (oyster) Penang still does it differently, for its oyster size , corn starch, to the egg used (I think is duck egg). You'll never eat any other copies after this experience.

Penang is also famous for Loh Mee and despite every other Loh Mee that you've tried, this is arguably the thickest and the boldest gravy ever existed for this dish. Really, it's too good to be true, RM 2.70. So damn good!

The original Chinese rojak (mix fruits with rojak sauce) is not to be missed as well. It comes with a variation of matching fruits (not like PJ/KL) and a really gooey sauce. And only the most committed rojak aunty will make her own sauce.

Another good dessert would be ice kacang (ice with a variation of complimentaries). It is a common sight in most of the coffee shop but none as close as this in PJ/KL. You'll get ice cream, 6-10 types of fruits, standard ice kacang sweet sauces and my favourite ah-tap-chi, oh lala.

Yes! Even mamak stall is idolize in Penang, ever heard of Line Clear? It is Penang's best nasi kandar and the most original of its kind, yum yum!

But still, it is the person you're with that makes the food delightful and that's me with my other half. Loving every moment of it. Cheers!

I know it's Christmas and as cliche as it may sound, I wanna thank all of you who participated, followed and commented on this blog.

And for those who suffered this year, leave it all behind. Give yourself a new purpose in 2010 and forget the satbacks. The truth is, everyone will hit a torn or two as they move. Really, nothing is certain and nothing is perfect. Still, we can take precaution and reduce the chances of unwanted situations.

For this Christmas season, try staying at home, after all Christmas is a family event. We can give the drinking and unprecedented hook ups a rest, take this opportunity to communicate with your siblings, parents and neighbors.

Last but not least, be safe. Don't indulge too much in smoking, drugs and sexy chicks. Trust me, there's 101 better ways to end the year with than a silly one night stand because you and I know that those thoughts are false unless you're willing to stick a 1000 dollar bill up her ass. Grr...

In fact, they no longer portray the American Idiot we once know but rather something mature in the 21st century. Still, not all is lost. Tracks like 21st Century Breakdown does reminiscence their old ways but this time with more vocal and less screaming. That's not all, if you're in the mood to flirt, try Viva la Gloria and you'll experience a very different vibe considering the band's history of obtrusive music. Overall, this is one hell of an album and arguably the best of Green Day so far.

Horrors in temporary jobs

I’m in the midst of self discovery and other potential alternative in career. There are certain areas in life that I’m yet to find out. After all, we can only see and hear what other people do, which could be accurate or inaccurate depending on each and every individual interpretation.

For that, I instinctively disseminate my resume massively hoping to lay my hands on a writing position but alas, it didn’t went according to plan and everyone had sufficient left over to run December issue.

But since I persist, an editor from Clive, quickly forwards my information to Warner Music Malaysia. And to my surprise, they called almost instantaneously for an interview.

Sadly, I was only half prepared during the interview and I forgot to ask two important questions before I agreed working with them. And like any other people, I assumed my job scope with the confidence and trust from an editor/writer since he knew how much I wanted writing.

But unfortunately, I wrote nothing and interviewed no one and spend most of my time indoor doing what adults hate to do, packing, printing, cutting and filing. Eventually, I do get to go out but it wasn’t for an interview or to pester someone but to dispatch items around, since every company has a staff that runs errand like that. And with me being new, I acted as the pawn that any bosses need as dispatch.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry, I’ll send my people over,” said with a grind. I got up from my uncomfortable executive chair, collect the items and rush to the mapped destination.

When I finally reach the place, after hours of traffic congestion and car park hassle, I hand over the package and it went swiftly without a hint of gesture that I might take a name card from his/her assistance.

From there, I begin to realize my job scope and gotten a bigger picture of what I’m supposed to do. And more importantly realize that how wrong I was to assume the interview.

Still, I persevered and continue doing my daily task of packing, scanning, printing, cutting and replying unimportant emails on their behalf. It was tolerable until one day my efforts was unappreciated.

That was the time when I was told to pay Astro a visit for a few deliveries. I panic for a second and told him that it will be better if I courier the items over and pointed the fact that I’m not familiar with the route but he insisted on sending it anyway.

So I took the liberty to learn the road from my father and reached Astro without too much problem aside from getting honk now and then for last minute swirls due to my lack of alertness in the new journey.

And as clumsy as I always were, I drove into the premise without realizing that only employees are allowed to enter.

Though the journey was rough with bits and bytes everywhere, I still manage to reach the lobby without wasting too much time.

But that day wasn’t my lucky day. It rained heavily and I was stuck in Astro until my higher up begin to suspect my adequacy and texted me several time to come back.

When I got back, I did the usual things that an office boy will do and leave when 6.30pm came but it was no easy feat. Every time I try to leave, I’ll get a quiz on things that I’ve done with suspicions that I slack during working hours and also the intimidating aura that suggest “don’t go back if your work is not done”.

Even said so, I was still confident to leave because everything I was doing wasn’t even close to the actual operations in the office. Besides, I’m only doing things that other people hate doing as a senior.

Still, my level of tolerance is safe but I begin to build up a rebellion force inside me and sometimes I just wanted to retaliate.

On the next day, I begin embracing life as it is and begin accepting little task that was told relevant to the media. And today, I got a few boxes with 200 CDs each to be sent to 26 radio studio nationwide.

Never did I think that I was expected to finish the packing by end of the day until I receive a sounding/remark despite having strain my hands the whole day. Further, I don’t usually leave at 6.45, most of the time I leave slightly later.

I got home feeling angry and tendered my resignation the next day. Little did I expect that temporary job/Internship could be this streeful.

So I urge enthusiast out there to ask your employers two very important questions I left out.

-What exactly am I going to do?
-What are my working hours?

By getting the answers to those question, they will be oblige to fulfill what they have promised you and not simply asking you to perform errands that others kill to do. Best of all, if you don’t like what they propose, you can just find another temp. job.

How much we really know about the internet?

With the rising popularity of the internet, one cannot but embrace the fact that technology has taken a leap and is crucial that we know what to do with the opportunity available for us.

Since Google and online mail services dominate our lives, people are now able to communicate in real-time situation rather than spending time with a pen and a paper. Moreover, hands phone are well acquit with wifi capabilities, not to mention sms's advantages as well. There's no real reason why Google and Yahoo couldn't make money.

Still, do we ever sit down and think about the success of these companies? No. Instead we believe that these companies succeed for simply being the first to provide free email. Sadly, wverything we know only consists of 20 percent of their actual reason behind their story. There are other bewitching steps taken before the establishment made it to what it is today.

Just think about Friendster and how it gave us a new purpose in life. Think about the reason why you enjoy being around people in the club. Friendster poses a condition free environment for people to socialize and interact with one another. Moreover, people tend to be open when they are not obligated to give you the good first impression contrary to clubbers.

For the less appealing individuals, they tend to participate more on online social network than in real life. They sometimes disguise as someone else or animated characters to boost their confidence when interacting with others. And just like that, they are able to communicate with the kind of people they like in appose to the chances they have on a real life social environment. But that doesn’t deter “prominent” people to stop using Friendster. They too can be insecure without realising their own potentials.

In business terms, think of it as selling your ratings for free to Friendster. What they have created is a community, where possibilities mentioned above happen, regardless whether it is positive or negative.

Still, how much do we really know about online social webpages? They could be imposing themselves as Microsoft or Motorola and secretly disguising themselves as an ordinary user with hidden agenda. We really don’t know that.

Before we start utilizing the free medium, we need to analyst what users want and how they can use the community you created to their advantage. Blogging for instances, give us the confidence because we’re not judge on a professional point of view but rather constructive criticism from ordinary people. From there, we can improve before throwing ourselves into the ocean. Kudos to bloggers.com.

The point is, brands should put themselves out there and not merely a website with historical background. Brands should build communities. By communities meaning to give users a safe zone to do what they can’t in real life.

A good example to that would be Lowyat forum. Clearly the content of the forum has nothing directly related to the premise but it does want you to visit and get a feel of the experiences within. To do that, they construct a forum where people can sell stuff, discuss issues, introduce games and other general hobby, with Lowyat as the tagline in the forum homepage.

With good faith, opinion leaders and sellers can meet up at Lowyat to do their transaction and other community based activities evolved in the forum.

And when such participation exist, Lowyat became a popular site and some would even regard it as the place for IT parts and any other computing product.

Still, it’s easier said than done. You cannot aspect something as miracle as this to happen in a day. A community is build in weeks, months and even years before you see actual result. You cannot escape from internet either because potential business partners and customers are using the same platform to connect with everything around.

It doesn’t have to be business, even non-profitable organization or special project can benefit from the use of internet. But still, is up to you to make the first move before your counterpart does.

What I've been doing?

Greetings!

Like all other students out there, we are probably having a nice time now without assignments or exam pulling our legs.

And unlike some who chooses to enjoy, I took the liberty and got myself a learning opportunity at Warner Music Malaysia and amazingly, in the first two weeks, I found some really depressing issues about the music industry. I fear that music might one day be extinct.

With YouTube and Torrent downloads rampant on the internet, we can now listen to music without having to buy CDs. Car accessories are no child play either, they too install convenient USB hubs to accommodate mp3 and wma audio files.

Unless, you come from a background with very little technology, I can't see a reason why you fail to download music like anyone else. Hail to TMnet and other internet service provider.

The thing is, label companies, took hours of promotion, collaboration and nurturing of local and international artist to give us what we have on Torrents and Limewire today. If we continue to download without control, we're probably see the extinction of music, faster than sharks and orang utans. And judging by the addiction of illegal downloads, torrent will soon put a price in every download.

If that's the case, why not contributing to the original music industry instead? There's no valid reason why hackers should earn your money. I know that CD's are expensive but if our attitude don't change, we might be responsible for destruction of music. And yes, I agree we can't live without illegal downloads but we still purchase original once in a while, with a balance for both pirated and original. With only a small effort of buying the CD's you really love, will brighten our day in label industry thus putting a smile in your favorite artist.

Before we press the download button, think of ways to get the government to reduce taxes for imported CD. With the correct influence and petition, we can demand for cheaper CDs.

But no matter what, there's always promotions and discounts available for us, especially on this month of giving. And so happen there's Warner and EMI cheap CD campaign.

It is the little effort and commitment that keep the music industry running and fret not, your contribution is not wasted. If things go well for the industry, you can be reassured that we (labels) will force your favorite artist to produce more hence better music.

Managing stress is all about taking charge, not merely controlling the situation but rather your emotions, your environment and the way you solve problems. Your main objective is to achieve a balance life with time to play, work and socialize, hence the ability to work under pressure and taking on new challengers face off.

Of course, it is easier said than done. To effectively manage stress, you'll need to identify the causes of your worries, be it in relationship or financial issue. Sure, you understand the constrains of tight deadlines but maybe it is your procrastination that made you feel the way you feel.

So ask yourself these few questions and see whether you match the following:

- Do you associate stress with hard work? (I work better under stress)
- Or perhaps take stress as some temporary, come and go situation.
- Or maybe blame the situation on some one else that may be the root of the problem.

If the three or other excuse matches your description then you should follow the simple instructions below. Remember, stress is no excuse unless you allow it to take the best out of you.

For starters, try writing down the main cause of your stress and be detail on how it affect you emotionally and physically. When you're done with that, jot down your responses towards the problem and the things you did that made you feel better. And when the bad times come again, reveal and follow your past achievements.

Just by doing that, you pass the first stage of stress management and you legally oblige yourself to take responsibility for your own actions hence looking at real solution to cope stress. After all, there's no one we can rely on other than ourselves and books (knowledge).

Remember the old school of thoughts: Be organized and be early. Most of the time, it is the simple time management that is lacking.

Sure, everyone loves iPhone and other apple products but if you ask a geek, they'll tell you that Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) phones are much better for wifi, web browsing and data entry, hence value for money.

And if you are a fan of Window's, you'll no doubt enjoy the latest Window Mobile 6.5 that is engineered for your private video viewing (shhh..!) and porn surfing handy when the missus is not around.

In fact, the system is so identical to XP and Vista you won't need shits to master the phone and you can get down to business as soon as you purchase.

But unfortunately nothing is perfect, even amazing firmwares like Window's mobile can freeze and unexpectedly open an intimate video of you and your exes.

But seriously, it isn't the missus that caused the hyped of the iPhone culture. Movies and popular soap operas embeds iCulture to each of the main characters lifestyle, leaving wannabes in grief to follow their footstep, particularly on Gossip Girls.

If you have an iPhone it means you've signed up for some weird Maxis plan or worse, switching your service provider for Maxis. But your glory doesn't end there, in 2 months time, maxis present you with yet another to-die-for iPhone3GS with added features like video recording and MMS. We know that you like to keep memories of your exes but buying again is a huge waste of money.

But then again, it isn't entirely our fault. Advertising and promotion made us the way we are and as cliche as it sound, we can only learn from our mistake.

So why not give the latest Motorola device a chance? Not only will you experience the "new" factor for the next six month but also a compliment of both the functionality of an iPhone and a PDA, how thoughtful...

Japan's most breathtaking animation, La Maison en Petits.

Halloween has recently haunt us in our beds but not as daunting as Tsumiki no Ie (2009) (The House of Small Cubes) that looks at several challenging moments in life we once took for granted.

The Oscar winning author, Kondo Kenji, planted his fear of old age in the video and visually narrates the ocean disaster that is yet to come. But what made that clip horrifying is the nostalgia behind the story. It looks at survival in its most basic form and continuously reminded us about the glory of loosing one's love in mother nature's wrath.

Summary:

The old man who struggles in life's most deadliest moment (isolation and loneliness) made his way to the top of the cube, leaving behind his precious memories beneath the depths of the sea. Thus living his few final years in his cherished secluded space called home. He was doing great initially until he drop his favorite pipe to the lower level of his heritage and hesitantly picked it up with the memories of his late wife. As he remain silent for that few seconds, he decides to roam the lower levels of his home to ferret out the life that he once had. Only when he reached rock bottom he realizes the hardship in life and how he managed to beat the others to the top. But still, he embraces what life has to offer and made full use of the remaining happiness harvested around him in the compliments of his inseparable wine glass and freshly grilled tuna (presumably).

Verdict:

So the morale of the story tells you that even the talented is vulnerable to loneliness.

If you're into animation and other computerized video design subject then you should see this video. It uses the silhouette of a popular animation Bad Apple, in mostly white and black. Sure the colour choice brings back memories but seriously, the continuous mutation creates that cool vibe for imagination . In fact, the music chosen in the video is so good, you can even dance with it in your girlfriend's panties (damn!). So forgo some girl-next-door peeping session and watch a healthy and addictive video instead, idiot.

Nostalgic movie experience

Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) recently hosted the annual Latin-American film festival with promising Latin movies for four days straight. Among the popular and award winning films are Cronicas, The Good Life and The Snail Strategy. All equally intrigued and meaningful.

Unfortunately, the event was too short and it didn’t really capture the desired movie-goers, aside from being RM 5. In fact, there were almost or no trailer at all for those limited time movies. That means you'll have to risk your time, money and petrol for the movie.

Having said so, I took the risk and bought a pair of tickets to the last session of Cronicas and I was really excited since I traveled all the way to 1U at 1pm for a 7.15pm small cinema movie.

It might be a little crazy since it's only a movie but I'm starting to appreciate foreign shows for its cultural and ethical differences. But still, it was YouTube's trailer that got me hooked to the show.

Despite the anticipation, the trailer (above) was the closest I got to the movie. And sadly, GSC no longer air the show.

Here’s what happened at the GSC 1U.

6.45pm – Rush to Patty’s place (Shit! I might be late.)
7.00pm – Hi baby! (kiss kiss on cheeks, yay!)
7.10pm – Found a car park at 1U and glared the on coming cars with my telepathic "sucker" stare.
7.12pm – Bought lite and sweet pop corn because caramel is distasteful like your morning breath (yuck!)
7.15pm – Ahhh, cinema 5!
7.20pm – Ehh, where’s the advertisements? Where is everyone?
7.25pm – (Honest auntie beside us) Boy! Can you ask them if they are airing the show? Oh ok, right.
7.30pm – Sorry ah! Movie cancel, we will refund your movie and give you free voucher, so sorry!

Even though we didn't get to watch the movie (sadly), GSC staff made sure we went back with full refund and 4 complimentary passes.

And almost instantaneously, we redeemed the next show for rebellion. The gangster flick was intense and gruesome at the same time, good for people who miss Young and Dangerous.

So end of the day, I had my excitement but it was nostalgic at first because the refund and complimentary came as a surprise (at least, to me).

But no matter what, I'm still determined to watch Cronicas but I'm sure it won't just drop from the sky. If you happen to linger in the DVD stall looking at porn DVDs and stumbled over that show, please by all means drop a comment.

H1N1 is sooooo underrated

It looks like any ordinary flu or cold but once H1N1 takes charge, your immune system will fall, following by death. But really, if you think carefully, influenza A and AIDS aren't that different. First, it kills your immune system completely and then it lets you die in the next disease. So if you think you’re fit for AIDS, then don’t bother wearing a mask in the crowded LRT.

So how to protect yourself you might ask? Fear not, I have the solution for you that is neither a hassle nor a penalty to your pocket. Just follow this simple instruction and you're in for a safer and healthier lifestyle.

1. Wash your hands.

2. Cover your cough.

3. Don’t touch your face.

4. Stay away from people who are sick.

And if you’re the victim of the disease, don’t panic. Just get to the nearest Hospital (call someone if you don’t know which) and tell them your problem. Upon consuming the medication, make sure you follow every instruction prescribed by the doctor so you'll stop spreading the disease during your intimate moments.

But trust me, your death isn't the most important issue right now. If the virus mutates to a new level at the account of your death then more people will die.

So the least we can do right now is to defend yourselves against the virus, I mean healthy diet and exercise. After all, we are the smartest creatures alive so when did we fall sick and die on something so small when we can eat snakes and polar bears everyday? Hilarious.

The talented and strong Yasmin Ahmad past away after losing the fight against a deadly stroke.

"It is safe to assume that we won't find anyone quite like her,"

“Not to mention the adverts with racial values,” Darren said.

It was Rebun 2002 that made her famous (her first movie), where she won crucial awards that open the Malaysia’s movie market to the international scene.

Critics from all over the world were also pleased with her work and wrote rewarding comments to show their appreciation.

She's known for her philanthropic imagination and anti-racial perspectives, in which some would regard as mission impossible.

But she's no newbie to the human behavior, she majored in psychology and witness a good amount of grief before coming up with those ideas.

Though it might be a way to earn a living, her movies portray the necessary values that is currently lacking in the society.

She constantly takes us back in time and allow us to once again embrace the good and the bad times.

Among those films are Sepet and Talentime.

Even though she had the best intention in mind, she couldn't satisfy everyone.

There are people out there that regard Sepet as inappropriate and insensitive to racial integration.

Well, if a person understands the movie, he/she will know the importance of unity, but, if a person sees it the wrong way, who knows what fantasy he/she could be thinking of.

But no matter what, values such as these takes time to work its magic, and thus far, it has changed the mindset of many. At least it changed mine.

“The most significant improvement I notice was the need to provide a better environment for all races to live in” Darren adds.

Strangely, it only took a small effort of Yasmin to promote racial awareness, who knows what she's capable of doing in the next production.

One thing for sure, her take on Petronas has put the old at ease and the young at bay,and "we will never see anything quite like that anymore," Darren.

While most of us are shocked in her sudden departure, this is what she said before she leave,

“I don’t mind talentime being my last movie,” she said.

And ironically, it really became her last movie.

Google made a daring attempt to challenge Windows with its latest invention, Google Chrome OS (Operating System).

The new OS will be an open source operating system that will first hit the netbook (smaller than laptops) market and slowly make its way to desktop, Google official said.

Google claims that the new operating system will be up and running on netbooks starting in the second half of next year.

It will be “light and easy” and web browsing friendly.

Google OS adapts the same techniques of Google Chrome for its speed, simplicity and security.

“We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds,” Google explains.

“The user interface is mininal to allow greater emphasis on web browsing,” Google adds.

Nonetheless, Google pledges to make security issue their top priority and decides to start from scratch with the basic redesigning of security architecture.

By doing so, users will fuss no more against virus, spyware and malware threads.

Chrome OS will be running on x86-based PCs, as well as machines built around the ARM processor (such as the so-called smartbooks or netbook).

A body was found in Neverland during a sweep that could very be the corpse of the prominent Michael Jackson, official said.

“From what we can tell, he died between 15 – 20 years ago,” forensic investigator Tim Holbrooke said.

“We don’t know who and what has been standing trial in that Santa Maria Court House,” he added.

According to Holbrooke, Jackson’s corpse was buried just inches below a stretch of the miniature-train tracks that run throughout Neverland.

The decaying body was dressed in red, zipper-covered leather jacket and a single glove that look like a dying trend decades ago.

“We are positive that the corpse belongs to Michael Jackson after examining dental and DNA evidence,” Holbrooke explains.

“Even though the body was at an advance decomposition stage, we found a striking similarity in bone structure and facial features,”

“Only his 1987 photos resemblance was negligible,” he add.

“This discovery has raised a series of questions, but it also leads to a number of disturbing incidents,” he said disheartedly.

“Moreover, Michael Jackson has been acting strangely so far,” he concludes.

Mean while, forensic experts and music critics are speculating that Michael death happened before the release of the multi-platinum album Bad.

Detectives are currently looking at the lyrics on “Man In The Mirror” for leads relating to the death of the youngest Jackson and the person who assumed his identity.

“We believe that Neverland existed as the sole purpose to divert attention, acting as the perfect place for Michael’s burial, a mastermind afterall,” Holbrooke said.

“We also suspect that the crime happened on that range was the work of an imposter, though the current evidence only lead us to 13-year-old cancer patient,”

“And who knows? The current Michael Jackson could very much be a victim of the sort,”

“Basically, we have no idea what type of creature we are dealing with,” Holbrooke explains.

La Toya Jackson, MJ’s sister, expressed her need for a thorough investigation after finding out the benefits of her brother’s death.

She believed that MJ’s success and wealth made him a tempting target for fraud. Moreover, she found out that roughly 2 million dollars worth of jewellery was taken after his death.

She also announced that she was well aware of the people who aggravated his death on June 25 and vowed to see them brought to justice.

Interestingly, she claimed that Michael Jackson was pressured to perform in London even after several refusals.

Her comments came two days after Michael’s father blunt statement of “foul play,” during the guardianship procedure of his two children to his ex-wife.

However, the key hearing over the custody of the children delayed a week after recent talks, giving Michael’s 79-year-old mother additional time with the children.

Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, told ABC News that he was dumbfounded when he learned that his son collapsed and rushed to the hospital.

“I find it difficult to believe the incident. I do believe it was a foul play. I do believe that,” he said, with no further explanation.
